Motivatie recensent | Bottled for the first time, the 2015 Riesling Trabener Zollturm displays a clear, fresh, complex and elegant bouquet with bright ripe apple aromas along with flinty or stony flavors from the gray-colored slate and quartzite soils. The wine is very dense and almost viscous on the palate whereas the acidity is well integrated and accompanied by nice tannins. The Zollturm shows lemon and crushed stone flavors and is a mouth-full of a generous, well textured Riesling but still lacks the divine lightness, transparency and freshness of the other grands crus. In fact, Immich bought one hectare in the 2.5-hectare cru only in late 2014 and the organic farming will need some years before significant results can be seen. For the grand cru, just a south-facing 0.6-hectare plot with ungrafted vines is used and the resulting wine combines richness and concentration with elegance, salt and structure. Very promising. |
